Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI)

Citizens for 1 Greater New Orleans through its Criminal Justice Reform Committee has been working with Orleans Parish Juvenile Court and the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Committee on reforming the Orleans Parish Juvenile Justice System by planning and implementing the Annie E. Casey’s best practice program, Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI).

Since December 2005, the JDAI Advisory Committee has been working on assessing and responding to the need for services based on the current and future juvenile population and developed a continuum of care for both prevention and rehabilitation based on the needs identified. The continuum is a direct result of shared values and a philosophy developed through collaboration among the New Orleans JDAI Advisory Committee.
